External Rendering, Light Cookies, Auto-Update, and MacOS Beta Available | SceneForge 0.6.6

Hello there !

While 0.6.6 is a relatively small update in and of itself, it does bring some interesting and useful features to SceneForge.

As always you can read on, and/or check out a video below:

Light Cookies

Similar to IES profiles, you can use these "cookies" to apply Masks to your spotlight, giving them a more realistic or stylized effect (depending on what you use). IES profiles can still be imported in the same way they were previously, but now the system accepts PNG, JPG, and JPEG image files.

External Rendering

This new feature allows you to output your active SceneForge camera to another window on your Mac or PC. This works similarly to Spout or Syphon, but it's included in SceneForge. This is useful for collaboration, workspace customization, and perfect for the IC-VFX tools as well.

Self/Auto-Update

Previously if you were to click "Yes" to the update prompt, it would open your browser to manually download and install the new version. This worked, but was a bit clunky. Now, the SceneForge app itself will automatically download and open the installer for you, simplifying this process even further.

MacOS Beta!

Finally, after a long time of development, the MacOS version is fully functional and stable. To ensure the highest quality of support during this beta period, access will be limited. If you have a Mac and/or know someone who does and would like to get access, feel free to reply right to this email to set that up.

For more info on the current state of the Mac version, take a look here.

Updated Pricing and Licensing

To prepare for the updated pricing structure, single-device licensing has been put in place. This means that to those using upgraded versions, only one device can be used at a time. You can use your SceneForge license on any device you like, just not simultaneously.

Thanks for reading!
