SceneForge Unity SDK Available Now! | SceneForge 0.7.10

Sep 28, 2022 8:51 pm

Hello there, !

This is an exciting release because it brings two new things to the table:

1) An easy-to-use Unity SDK for using SceneForge with Unity

2) Body Tracking is now available within SceneForge Server!

This allows you to use SceneForge's great compositing and tracking tools within Unity, in any of your existing scenes (in any Render-Pipeline!).

Read on, or check out the video below!

What's new?

  • The Unity SDK is available for download here.
  • There's now a 3D Mode in the Server Application which allows you to use Body Tracking in other engines.

How does it work?

The Unity SDK acts as a beginner-friendly wrapper around a few existing open-source plugins, and also handles body tracking data being sent from SceneForge server.

Body tracking is only available when using NDI at the moment, because it contains metadata with each frame.

The SDK handles reading and applying data properly to get the desired results.

A full video overview of the SDK can be viewed below:

What's Next?

I'm working on adding the mobile camera functionality to Server as well, so you can use our fantastic AR tracking app in any other engine that supports NDI!

This will also be added to the SDK so everything's in one place.

Additionally, we hope to have an Unreal Engine option available in the future, but until then, SceneForge works perfectly with any of the existing Spout or NDI plugins available for UE.

And, if you want to build your own SceneForge-Tracking Solution for UE, you can check out the readme in the GitHub repo linked above for more info on how the Unity SDK works as well.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reply right to this message!

Thanks for reading!
