Brave Reflections: What would change if you prioritised your own peace today

Feb 19, 2025 9:19 am

Hello , my fellow brave human

Here's a question for you.

What would you do differently today if you prioritised your own peace?

What might you say no to? What might you say yes to? And what gets in the way?

The world feels very scary at the moment, I know it's affecting me. I've been waking up early in the morning with a deep fear. I don't want to shut off to what is happening around us (or what could happen), but I still I want to prioritise my own peace. I don't want to be be paralysed by it all.

So, I've been experimenting with different approaches and also dropping what I call 'peace bombs' throughout my day – small moments that create calm and centredness.

Also, I climbed this hill in a gale this morning at 7am - being in the elements was amazing. Probably not my best move (it was really windy), but my goodness it was exhilarating. So, get out in the elements if you can. Challenge yourself.

Failing climbing a hill. Here are a smattering of daily peace bombs to give you the control of your day to prioritise your peace:

  • Find something to look forward to today, a meeting you know you'll enjoy, or a catch up with friend
  • Have your favourite cup of something near birdsong or calming music
  • Check your phone only at set times that you choose
  • Breathe really, really deeply at least three times when you remember
  • Take a bath in your lunch break
  • Take 5 minutes to meditate, pray or do absolutely nothing!
  • Use the F*ckit technique when you are facing a challenge (simply saying "f*ck it" to things beyond your control - it's surprisingly effective!)
  • Smile, when you’ve got there

These aren't acts of selfishness or withdrawal from the world's problems. Rather, they're ways of resourcing ourselves so we can better face those challenges.

And everyone around us benefits from engaging with a more peaceful version of ourselves.

So tell me, what daily peace bombs work for you? Or do you have ones you can share and add to the list?

P.S. A reminder that against conventional wisdom BE is operating on a Pay As You Can model (guide price: £100/month) because I believe that those who feel called to this work deserve access to it.
