During the recent holiday break, I got hit by the FLOB.

Again.

What is the FLOB, you ask? It's the Fundamental Law of Business.

I was doing some strategic planning for 2025, and part of that process is to review my client pipeline. The purpose is to find insights about how things went, and hopefully improve my processes.

First half of 2024 was awesome, but June and July hit me hard.

The months where I consistently landed premium clients all had one thing in common – those were the times when I committed to doing at least one prospecting activity every single day.

Kahit pagod, kahit busy, kahit feeling ko wala nang time.

But you know what's interesting? Nung June and July, I got too comfy and complacent.

Dumating kasi yung payments from the earlier big projects, and I thought "Siguro naman, I can take it easy muna."

I was working behind the scenes in several launches for The Freelance Movement Tribe, where I'm a coach.

This was on top of holding and organizing in-person workshops leading up to those months.

Tapos birthday month ko din.

Tapos nag-euro trip pa kami ng fam that time, and we found ourselves accidentally in Rome pa. Which was quite expensive.

Excuses, excuses.

Instead of maintaining my daily prospecting habit, I did nothing at all.

May residual inquiries and income from active clients pa din naman, but far cry compared sa ibang months. Reactive lang ako instead of proactively reaching out to potential clients.

Buti na lang the story changed nung August onwards.

One small choice changed things: Blocking off 30 minutes every morning, before anything else, just for prospecting.

Just one connection request.

Just one LinkedIn message.

Just one follow-up email.

That's it. Retrained myself to do this habit lang uli. Small things lang. But I now try to do it every. single. day.

Pero Shods, you were on vacation fer cryin out loud. Don't give me that BS! - is probably what you would say

Hehe. I get that. Dapat naman talaga we should take our breaks seriously and fully disconnect.

Yung thing lang was that I should have delegated someone or something (could be a VA, AI Agents, or sariling automation sana) to do the leadgen for me, but NOT fully turn it off.

That's the lesson there. The FLOB.

All businesses need a constant flow of leads, no matter how big you are. I knew this already, but I still keep forgetting.

Kaya yun, I got FLOBBERED. haha.

That dip in income was the giant receipt.

And you know what? Since I started doing the small habits again for 2025, two promising leads already responded, and one is moving forward to a discovery call maybe next week (need ko pa i-follow up which I mustn't forget din lol).

Ang point ko, , is this:

At any moment, you are literally ONE good choice away from a meaningfully better life.

Think about it:

- One prospecting activity daily, no excuses

- One personalized connection request (just because AI is all around us, doesn’t mean na hindi ka na pwede mag-personalize ng conversation.)

- One follow-up to that client who "ghosted" you

- One touch-base kamusta DM to a past client

- One valuable comment on a potential client's post

These choices compound. Para siyang daily quest sa mga video games – small rewards daily, pero pagdating ng month-end, grabe yung accumulated exp and rewards mo na.

from our list started doing this too, after reading this email. Nag-commit sya to sending just two prospecting messages daily. By the second week, may discovery na syang call naka-schedule, and just the other day, I heard naka-deposit na daw yung new client nya sa dream rate na gusto nya!

That one choice to prospect daily is already creating momentum.

Sarap ma-feature sa emails that you're reading no? hehe. That's you naman talaga soon, . Ayieee

I know minsan nakakatamad mag-prospect, especially when we're busy with current projects. Trust me, I still feel that resistance every day.

But don't give up on this habit.

Because that next prospect? They might just be your next dream client.
