The Voices in Your Head

Not everyone listens to audiobooks. I get that. But many people do. It's a huge market that's growing. A friend of mine just signed a deal with Audible to bring his series of massive fantasy books to audio.
There are tons of debates on the subject. Do you use Audible, or Libby/Overdrive? How fast do you listen? 1x, 1.25x, or 2x? One of the fascinating debates is who is the best narrators are. For the Nolan Keller genre, there are some legends like Scott Brick. He's done everything from Reach to Orphan X to Tom Clancy. If you search on Audible, he has over 1,000 titles to his credit. I heard someone the other day say they couldn't stand his voice.
James Marsters' treatment of The Dresden Files is one of my favorites. He is perfect for Jim Buther's urban fantasy series. In the same way, Steven Pacey does an amazing job with Joe Abercrombie's First Law Series.
Jay Snyder and Ray Porter have made a name for themselves narrating different thriller series.
While he has done some thrillers (Karin Slaughter, for instance) my favorite narrator is Michael Kramer. He and his wife Kate Reading are absolute legendary audiobook narrators. I'm a little biased since Michael narrated my first two Dragons of Dorwine books.
I have so many narrators I have met and enjoyed. I could never list them all. Who are your favorites? Let me know. Maybe I'll find a new favorite! jack@authorjackadkins.com
