A Week in the Woods
Today (Tuesday) is my 25th wedding anniversary! My wife and I just finished a week in the foothills of North Carolina. Despite bear encounters, WiFi woes, and some of the crookedest roads I've seen, we survived. It was nice to see the wilds of such a lush and beautiful place. I took a lot of photos (as I tend to do) and posted a few below. I try to find things to draw inspiration for my writing from every place I visit.
It occurred to me whilst traipsing around the woods that I couldn't think of a single book I felt drew inspiration from the Blue Ridge Mountain area. Sometimes you read something and know instantly where the idea for a place in a book came from. The closest I got was The Woods Out Back, by R.A. Salvatore.

Progress
Despite taking a writing retreat, I didn't get as much done as I wanted. Access to the internet was poor and a lot of what I do is cloud based. I accomplished some and I'll give a solid update in the next newsletter.
