With every book I take on a couple of new Beta Readers. Some of the old crew aren't available, and some figure out the type of reading I need isn't for them. So I pick out one or two new readers for each project. It also helps me keep fresh eyes on my stories.

What do I need?

I need two readers for this book. I have a questionnaire here: https://authorjackadkins.com/beta-readers/ It explains what types of things I need. Part of it is seeing where the story works well, and where it needs changes. Another part is letting me know when an important character is fading to the background or if a plotline isn't resolved in a satisfying way. This isn't really a spell checking round. That will come in a few weeks. Then I'll just need a handful of people looking for typos.

When?

From now (11/19/24) to December third. Why do this over Thanksgiving break? Many of my Alphas and Betas have day jobs and don't have chunks of time to read unless they are on a break from work. They usually like to read it as fast as possible and breaks like this can be good for that.

How?

I prefer Betas (as described above) read on their Kindle or in a PDF. Proofreaders need to use MS Word.
