Do Heroes Still Exist?

I read a lot of fiction, and I'm guessing you do, too. After listening to Michael J. Sullivan give a heartwarming intro to the audiobook version of his book Esrahaddon I've pondered the question; are there still heroes? The dark hero, or morally gray hero, has been all the rage for the past few years. In a good year, I read 35 - 40 books. I've struggled to think of one with a morally strong hero. Someone who aims to live an upright life. They will fail, but will continue to strive for the greater good. Is that even a thing anymore?
Have the Aragorn's of the world faded into antiquity? I hope not. I love this kind of character. While Anuka doesn't fit this bill, I would love to write about this kind of character. Someone with a strong moral compass that battles demons, inside and out, but ultimately lives their life for the good of others.
Do you like this kind of character? What's the last hero you read about that fits this noble mold? E-mail me: jack@authorjackadkins.com I love hearing from you all.
Something Amazing
I don't use that word lightly. JA Andrews is a wonderful author of (what I would term Noblebright) clean fantasy. Her characters are the best! (Lookin' at you Will). On top of that, she is a wonderful person that I've had the privilege of chatting with occasionally. You can get the entire Keeper Chronicles trilogy, narrated by the amazing Tim Gerald Reynolds, for one stinking credit on Audible. All three books! Go get it.
That's a general recommendation. For those of you with a taste for beautiful books, you need to check out her Kickstarter. These books are gorgeous.
Progress
Still moving forward. I cracked the case last week! I know how someone is going to do something and cause something else. Pretty vague, I know. But trust me when I say this is a problem I've been trying to solve for thirteen months and I finally cracked it. Shew. I blew past 90,000 words and on close to 95,000.
