Summer is in full swing

The Adkins family is in high gear. Between making Batman armor, Larping costumes, and weapons, our four boys have been busy. My wife and I have taken up gardening (I spray water on things) and have a beautiful assortment of flowers, fruits, and vegetables on our back deck.

My kids have an annual week-long family camp with their aunts and uncles that they look forward to all year long. The weather in Kentucky has been mostly mild and we are enjoying the sun.

Despite all the outdoor activity, I've actually gotten some reading done. I had been neglecting that and my creativity tank was getting low. I've probably read six books in the past two weeks. I'm currently reading the vaunted Fourth Wing everyone is talking about. The story is fun and really pulls you in. Too much language for me and it got kind of NC-17 toward the end. Yikes! I'll do a TikTok review in a few weeks. I should be primed and ready for the IFA Summer Reading Challenge in a couple weeks.

"What software do you use?"

I get this a lot and I wanted to address that here. You can write a novel in any software. I know a lady that writes amazing novels on her iPhone. Yeah... George R.R. Martin uses Word Star 4.0. What do I use? I use a program called Scrivener. It was originally developed for Mac, but they have a very nice Windows version.

Scrivener lets me do all my formatting, it has an amazing corkboard for scenes and notes, and a ton of features I will one day explore. Honestly.

Progress

I'm back! Mostly! Progress on Book 3 has been slow, but I have two stories I can't wait to share with you that are in the editing phase. Book 3 writing will re-commence soon. I'm re-reading what I've written of my manuscript to this point to help me hone the direction of the story. Fun stuff!
