Why Do We Love Stories?
Aug 29, 2023 2:01 pm
What is it about a good story?
I've been fighting the urge to re-listen to The Prisoner of Azkaban for ages. That story relates to me on a lot of special levels. I used to re-read Homeland, by R.A. Salvatore every year. When I run across a story I really love, I can't help but tell people about it. Hence the Books by Authors I Know section in this newsletter.
I think stories are important because they allow us to empathize with others and can help us understand situations we may never be in. Also, they help us deal with tough things in life. One reason Harry Potter was so popular is because a lot of kids grew up without a mom or dad. Or maybe they were very poor, or were picked on for being academically inclined. We see bits of ourselves in the characters we read and that makes us root for them.
Who do you root for? What characters do you really relate to? So many of you have been messaging me lately and I love it! Drop me a line: jack@authorjackadkins.com
SALE!
The Blood of a Dragon e-book will be free during my birthday week. From September 4th - 8th it will be free on Amazon. If you haven't grabbed, do it! It's free.
Speaking of free.
Starting January 1st, 2024, I am pulling out of Kindle Unlimited. Amazon keeps dropping the prices per page read, and it's not worth giving up wide distribution of the e-book for what they are paying out. If you have KU and want to read either of my books, now is the time.
I could use some help.
This is my Amazon Author page. If you click + Follow Amazon will probably spam your e-mail when I release something new, but it will help me out.
Finally, while I'm asking for things, if you read my books, please consider leaving a review. Even if you just click a star rating and don't write anything, it helps. Amazon has some magic formula for determining when to show my books to prospective readers. I'd love to get to 100 reviews for The Blood of a Dragon by New Year. Thanks!
