Dress for the Job You Want

Dressed to Kill
Who wants to walk around as a world famous author all the time? Boring. Those who know me understand that I'm a total trophy husband. Arm candy for real. But sometimes, I like to go to weird places, with weird people, and dress weirdly. The Ohio Renaissance Festival is only about an hour from my house. It runs from this weekend until Halloween. It's a hot, dusty, expensive, wonderful mess. I'm going in two weeks for my birthday!
I wanted to go dressed as Anuka. My oldest son is a serious costume designer and is making me a leather hat any goblin pirate would be proud of. But it isn't finsihed yet. I also don't want to be out in the heat with a 1/4" of red makeup on my face.
So I settled on a shield-bearing warrior with a sword I made from a 2x4. It's pretty dope, as wooden swords go.
Is this strange behavior? Are any of you weekend cosplay warriors? Tell me your favorite cosplay story. Email me at jack@authorjackadkins.com
A Personal Note
If you are of the praying persuasion, I covet your prayers. Things are hard right now. Work, church, writing. Everything is a struggle in this season. Please pray for God's peace in my life. Thank you.
Progress
I'm 70% done with round 1. The last third will go quickly. This process has been slow in part because of a Stormlight Archive re-read I'm doing with one of my best friends in preparation for the December release of Winds of Truth. No regrets, other than I know it's slowed me down a little. I have a head of steam and I'm motivated to finish now.
