My Favorite Reads from 2024

Starter Villain - Very weird little book, but the title and cover got me. More swearing that I like, but that's John Scalzi in general. This book is about a guy whose uncle was a supervillain. When he died, he left the family business to his nephew. Along with a very smart cat. It's worth reading.
Killers of the Flower Moon - This was an excellent book. It's not really written as a narrative style with a lot of prose, but the story David Grann tells is gripping, and very sad. I haven't seen the movie, but I imagine it's pretty good. I would recommend this book.
Red Seas Under Red Skies/Republic of Thieves - I read both of these books this year. Scott Lynch is an excellent writer who writes vivid fantasy worlds and interesting characters you easily invest in. This is grim dark on the high seas. The characters, while likeable, are all deplorable. Way too much language for my tastes. Great story, well told.
Back Blast - I read 3 or 4 [Gray Man] Series books this year. All were excellent. It's one of my favorite series. The detail and creativity of these books is wonderful. The pace keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I also caught up on the Drizzt Do'Urden series of books (up to Lolth Warrior) and read a few not-so-great books. I left those off. What did you read this year that you really liked? Let me know: jack@authorjackadkins.com
