Changes to how Quasar is provided to GP Practices in the HIoW region
Nov 24, 2025 8:01 am
Dear ,
Changes to regional commissioning arrangements mean that your Practice will see a change in how Quasar is provided.
We are writing to explain what this means for you and how we will support you going forward. Quasar will continue to operate as normal.
We understand that Hampshire & Isle of Wight ICB will no longer be funding Quasar for GP Practices and will instead be relying solely on LFPSE.
LFPSE is not a replacement for Quasar.
LFPSE is a national repository only. It does not provide:
- Incident management
- Workflow tools
- Cross-team collaboration
- Local learning
- Quality surveillance or trend identification
All of these are core day-to-day operational needs that Quasar currently provides, and which Practices have relied upon for nearly a decade. Quasar’s workflow, early-warning functions and triangulation of soft and hard intelligence are fundamental to maintaining safe systems of care. CQC teams also recognise Quasar as supporting improved safety and quality in Practices.
Continuing Your Quasar Service
With ICB funding ending, we are now able to offer Quasar directly to Primary Care teams at a discounted continuation rate of £50 per month +VAT (reduced from £100).
Your current service continues unchanged:
- All existing data, records, and storage are retained
- No change to access or reduction in functionality
- Monthly or annual payment options available
- Direct support and ongoing enhancements focused on the needs of Practices rather than commissioner-led requirements
Action Needed: Confirm Continuation
To avoid interruption, please confirm by 28 February 2026 if your Practice wishes to continue using Quasar.
If we do not receive confirmation:
- Access will end on 26 April 2026
- A grace period until 26 May 2026 will allow you to download/export all records
- After this, all data will be securely deleted in line with GDPR
Quasar Remains Essential for Primary Care
Quasar provides a comprehensive, integrated quality and safety management system that includes:
- Complaints, Comments, Concerns & Compliments (4Cs)
- Incident & Significant Event Management
- Safeguarding (Adults)
- KO41b reporting
- Health Care Professional feedback management
- Collaboration tools and dashboards
- Automated reporting, trend analysis, and local learning loops
These functions reflect 9 years of development in partnership with GPs, Practice Managers, quality teams, and commissioners, with a design philosophy focused on:
- Real-time quality surveillance
- Early identification of service failure
- Data for improvement, not judgement
- Front-line empowerment and transparency
- Reduction of bureaucracy and administrative load
Quasar has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to identify risk early, prevent escalation, support safeguarding, and share learning across Practices, improving operational safety and reducing unnecessary cost.
Using Quasar Alongside LFPSE
Quasar already supports full record export for Practices submitting to LFPSE.
We are also developing an export aligned to LFPSE data requirements to simplify submission when required.
If your Practice chooses to leave Quasar, you will retain the ability to download all data including attachments before the account is closed.
Shaping Quasar With You
Direct relationships with Practices allow us to prioritise functionality that directly reduces workload, supports oversight and improves patient safety, including:
- Document automation
- Workload reduction features
- Enhanced learning and improvement tools
- LFPSE alignment and integration
- Procedures compliance
- Time-saving workflow improvements
- Support for increased financial and operational pressures
We remain committed to supporting your practice with a system that delivers genuine, measurable value to quality, safety and patient experience.
If you would like to discuss continuation or future development needs, please contact me at any time during office hours. You can book a meeting with me using the following calendar link: Quasar Review on MS Teams
