THE MONDAY LEADOFF

Hi my friend 🫡

If you want to be great, learn from the best

  • Who do you look up to as a coach?
  • What about them inspires you?
  • If you were to talk to them today, what would you ask them?
  • Are there any coaches/mentors that you can learn from today?
  • What's stopping you from connecting with them right now?
  • What's stopping you from learning from them today?
  • Do they have a book that you can review for 5 minutes today?
  • If you could improve as a coach by 1% today, what advice would a coach you respect give you?

WHAT'S BEEN WORKING

1.

Systemic reflection

Reflection has helped me to stay in the lane of continual growth. I created a weekly self-reflection page that helps with seeing blind spots, recognizing successes, decision-making, areas of adjustment, long-term vision, and small change implementation. Send me an email or a text and I'll send it your way.

2.

Practicing it

After giving feedback, I often assume the player is now good-to-go. However, many times, the player will repeat the same mistake. I've found that no matter how small/trivial the detail is, guided practice allows for the quickest improvement. The athletes internalize the feedback much better after physically doing it versus just seeing/hearing it.

QUOTE I'M PONDERING
