Day Crafting: A Deeper Look At Our Conflicted Thinking

Jan 22, 2024 4:40 pm

Hi

Is there a conflict in our thinking and behaviour – between fast and slow, old and new, automatic and controlled or chimp and human? There are certainly a lot of perplexing qualities to the material Day Crafting is dealing with – us and our contexts – that we need to appreciate before we can develop the craft. The analogy I've always found most helpful as part of this understanding is the elephant and rider.

The concept is introduced on one page of the Introductory Workbook or the Day Crafting Apprentice Course (and developed throughout the Specialist Workbooks). Still, maybe one page isn't enough, so I've put a more extended reference article together.

Read it here on the website

If you're already familiar with the elephant and rider model, you may find the development of the concept in this article interesting – that the elephant speaks in voices one and two. I hope to explore this deeper aspect and its relationship to stress and self-care in a MAPS sometime soon.

Yours,

Bruce

PS. There are spaces available on the Apprentice Course starting in April. If you're interested, please book, and if you can recommend the course to your contacts, I'd really appreciate that too.
