Day Crafting: What makes a good (Christmas) day?
Dec 16, 2024 12:46 pm
Hi
Last week, two Day Crafting Apprentice Courses had their last sessions. One was with Sarum College, and the other was the last of four courses run for leaders in North Carolina.
In the final session, we talked about what defines a good day. With Christmas in mind, I've distilled these ideas into three skill levels you can aim for.
Basic:
Good maintenance and some spare time to reflect.
Intermediate:
Being in enough control of the day to get some meaningful stuff done and not carrying unnecessary stress into the following day.
Advanced:
Being time and energy-rich, allowing you to spend that resource as full attention to what you value most, ideally as connection with other people, the natural world or the transcendent sacred.
Would you agree? Thinking intentionally about the days to come, what are you aiming for? Getting to a state where you're time and energy-rich would be a huge accomplishment.
Day Crafting News
Day Crafting has reached an exciting milestone. The fifth and final workbook in the series I began three years ago is nearly ready for release, marking a significant step in shaping this practice. Alongside this, I’ve just delivered the 15th Day Crafting Apprentice Course. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has co-created this journey through those courses, MAPS, and 1:1 sessions.
Looking ahead, the next phase of Day Crafting involves growing a team of experienced apprentices to guide others. If you have relevant experience in teaching, coaching, facilitating, or directing and would like to explore joining this effort, please get in touch. I hope to shape a team of us to offer courses, workshops, 1:1 support, and consultancy in various contexts.
Ways to start crafting
Additionally, I’m introducing more apprentices to the practice through 1:1 apprenticeships. These bespoke plans are tailored to help new apprentices apply Day Crafting to their unique contexts. There is also one group Apprentice Course starting on 7th January – an ideal opportunity to start the new year with intention.
If any of this resonates with you, or if you know someone who might benefit from learning about Day Crafting, please point them to the website.
Yours,
Bruce
