Do your festive season need more Scottish Stories?

Greetings story lovers,

We're deep into December, and after Sunday I will have no more storytelling events until 2025. What a year it's been!

December always feels like a tussle between the impulse to hibernate, social gatherings, and festive prep.

I've got one final announcement before I take a break.

Scottish Tales for Telling

If you're still looking for stocking fillers, or gifts for folk with an interest in stories, myth or Scottish culture, you might be interested in my 'Scottish Tales for Telling' collection that I recorded this year and can now be bought, or gifted via bandcamp:

I've only just made this link live, and likely for a limited time, but for at least the next few weeks I'll have it listed and downloadable via bandcamp. The collection comprises 10 of my favourite tales for telling, and covers all the essential elements of Scotland's myth and folk heritage- faeries, witches, selkies, clan chiefs, saints, even the midge!

It was recorded and mastered by sound wizard, Tim Lane's studio in East Lothian, overlooking a stream on a bright summers day. He knows what he's doing and aims to create an 'organic' sound, which I think comes across well.

The intro tune is by Divergence, a band stretching the boundaries of traditional Scottish music (Freya Rae, Siannie Moodie, Tim Lane).

Story Stocking fillers

If you'd prefer something physical, I've also got a paperback book version of the collection that can be sent out in time for Christmas (in UK) if ordered by Tuesday 17th Dec, and also some pretty funky cards with download codes:

This collection of stories was kindly supported by kickstarter supporters about this time last year, so just a note of thanks to everyone who supported the campaign before I sign off.

If you feel like sharing the above links with friends and family who might be interested in such things, I'd likewise be very grateful.

It all makes a difference at this time of year, and I'm sure it'll provide an unusual gift for loved ones, or a satisfying listen/read for story lovers regardless of the season.

Festive blessings

Dougie
