TL:DR

·        Cryptic stickie notes on my computer

·        Space Traipse 6 is out on Amazon

What’s New in FabianSpace

I’m looking at the sticky notes on my computer. It’s the only way I can remember things. Usually, they are dates and appointments, but there’s also my saint of the year (St. John of Kanty) and notes for future books etc. Of course, they are often hastily scratched and lacking context. Today, I noticed anew this one: Use Google Translate for Japanese mouth etch.

I have no idea what it means, but it was important at the time.

Space Traipse: Hold My Beer 6 is Published

Yay! I got the cover art for the incomparable Dawn Grimes, and Space Traipse: Hold My Beer, Season 6 is out. The adventures of the Impulsive continue as Loreli returns – but not as anyone expected! Lt. Misha finds her long-lost fiancée, but when he turns out to be a selfish (and horny) android, it’s not a happy reunion. Plus, learn about Minion Jenkin’s obsession with chickens and about the time Ellie’s brain gets kidnapped.

Excerpt from just after they beam Loreli from the Orquidella to the Impulsive

Suddenly, the message on the console flashed. “Done.”

At that moment, the Orquidella screamed. “What have you done?”

Over the wail of the alien ship and the sudden blaring of red alert, the crew called out statuses.

“Shields up! Weapons hot. They’re shooting at us!” Il cried out. In the bullpen, hearts raced. He was acing the sense of urgency!

“Fire at will,” the captain ordered.

Il was smashing buttons before the captain finished his order—just the regular weapons. On the screen, a single phaser sliced through the ship before it got its shields up. The rest impacted the force fields with minimal damage.

The bud shape started to flare.

“Il, sing them a lullaby,” Jeb ordered.

Il’s heart raced with excitement. This was it. He was doing something significant.

His finger pounded on the button. In the bullpen, his second-string companions gasped with admiration.

“Rage metal fired!”

On the screen, the Orquidella staggered as if body-slammed.

“Jumping to warp!” Cruz called.

The other ship started growing smaller in their view. Of course, it should be understood that given the nature of warp technology, which is essentially faster-than-light travel, they would not actually see the ship growing smaller since, you know, they were going faster than light. However, the computers compensated to show on the screen what the subspace sensors said they should see if they could. It helped people feel better about their escape.

Until the Orquidella started catching up, that is. Or when another part of the screen showed the sun growing bigger in front of them.

“We are the Orquidella. Return Loreli to us!”

“Cruz,” Jeb said with an edge in his voice.
