In my latest installment, I explore Paul Kingsnorth’s haunting reflections on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the deeper spiritual force we call “Progress.” Kingsnorth suggests that while we’re distracted by political "enemies," technology, Big Data, and the elites are quietly reshaping our relationship to nature, transcendence, meaning, and what it means to be human.

This is, and isn’t, necessarily a conspiracy. We’ve built systems so powerful that we no longer control them, we’ve trained ourselves to value only what can be measured… and in the process, we’ve learned to ignore everything that actually makes life worth living.
