Hello, fanciful Fellowship!

This week, we're covering a lot! First up, one thing I'm doing to stay entertained while hiding from forest fire smoke; then one question I have for you all; several updates on the scribblings; next month's giveaway; the weeklies; and finally, the promos!

Personal Update

Forest fires have been keeping me indoors, so I've had to entertain myself in other ways!

No, not that - though Ben is quite entertaining! One of the things I've been doing is mapmaking. Here's an initial (very rough) sketch of "the East" from the World of Legend of Tal.

These initial maps are very useful in helping figure out the flow of the story where journeying is involved - and sometimes, the flow of the story might reorient places on the map! Once I'm sure everything is in the right spot and to the correct scale, the final stages of the map can begin in Photoshop. Hope the behind-the-scenes peek was interesting!

Also, I wanted to say that, once again, I'm incredibly grateful for the response on leaving reviews for A King's Bargain. Since last week, we're up 6 more, bringing the total review count to 63!

If you have a minute to leave a review yourself, it's very much appreciated as we creep ever closer to 100!

Answer a Question!

As you may recall from a few newsletters back, my mystery/political intrigue epic fantasy series, The Famine Cycle, is going wide! To that end, I have a question for you: Where do you buy ebooks? Amazon? Apple? Nook? Let me know!

Help me out by completing the survey through the button below. It's just a single question, so it shouldn't take more than a minute!

On Writing...

I've now officially started in on the third Legend of Tal book! Kaitlyn's getting close on her read-through of A Queen's Command (and so far, she's overall quite enjoying it!) - but while I'm waiting on her edits, I've decided to dive back into the world. There's always a bit of a dance for me when starting a new book as I try and figure out exactly the right place to start, but I've gotten over that initial hump now and am starting to gain some momentum!

Before I knuckled down with Tal, I flirted with a couple of my other projects, including a bit of editing on Frozen Throne and finishing the initial drafts of Episode 1 of the secret project! I won't jerk you around on this one forever, but a little teaser for now is it's my take on a "band of thieves" story... And so far, it's been a blast to write!

September Giveaway!

Once again, everyone's entered into the monthly giveaway as a "thank you" for being part of The Fellowship! This month, I'm giving away City of Whispers - and instead of one e-copy, I'm giving away two!

Check out next week's newsletter to find out who the winners are!
