Hey there, Kickstarter crowd!

Hope you had a great weekend, and a Happy 4th of July to those of you in the US!

It's crazy to say, but we've got just two days left until The Last Ranger launches on Kickstarter. Now is about the time when I start questioning everything I've done to this point. With any luck, I'll keep my sanity through the end of July!

Anyway, for today, allow me to tell you a little more about the world in which The Last Ranger takes place...

The setting for the series is primarily the Veiled Lands, a dangerous continent that has been recently colonized by our protagonist's people. As you might guess from the series title, Ranger of the Titan Wilds, it boasts fearsome beasts called titans — giant elementals that take the forms of creatures like hawks, elephants, and dragons. Such is their size and power that a single titan could level a village, if it's unfortunate enough to be in its path. 

The rangers were largely established to surveil the Titan Wilds, the farthest reaches of the Veiled Lands, and keep watch for any infringing titans. But titans are not the only danger to be found. There are also the mysterious beings known as dryvans, shapeshifters that adopt the forms of plants and animals into their bodies.

The greatest threat, however, may come from humans. One of the native peoples, the Gasts, did not yield their land easily to the invading colonists, and are known to occasionally send war parties into the colonies of the Veiled Lands. And the colonies have long had tensions with the Ancestral Lands that established them.

A ranger must be skilled and cautious if they are to survive long in this untamed wilderness. But even then, tragedy can claim the most resilient warriors.

I'll leave you with the map of Unera (what the world at large is called). It's the first time I've gotten a professional map for any of my series, and I'm thrilled with the results!
