The awesome rewards coming for The Last Ranger Kickstarter

Hey there, Kickstarter crowd!

This week, I figured I should give you an overview of The Last Ranger campaign, and specifically what rewards you'll be able to get out of it.

***

The basic tiers at which you'll be able to back are for the ebook, paperback, and hardcover editions.

Ebook

The ebook will be an exclusive edition, as the Amazon version won't include all the interior illustrations, if indeed any. It costs me as the author to put in images, as Amazon charges fees for the file size, so this is the way to get those in your book!

This tier will run about $5-$8 in price, depending on if you back in the first week or not. That's a bit higher in price than what I often have done for the first books in a series, but you'll get plenty more beyond what you would on Amazon — read below for those extras — and you'll help make the book even better by backing it on Kickstarter.

Paperback & hardcover

Print books will be signed and include a signed bookmark as well. For international folks, I'll be doing signed bookplates (which can be inserted into the book) to keep shipping costs down. The costs will run from $20-$34 plus shipping, and depending on if you get in early for the launch discounts.

More goodies

All backers will get the following goodies:

  • Two (or more!) bonus stories related to The Last Ranger
  • Digital wallpaper of the cover art
  • Eternal infamy from your name in the book acknowledgements (if so desired)

Stretch goals

As you probably know, this is where the magic happens! By funding the book before its release, you get to help add in lots of things beyond what I could normally afford.

The first of these will be a professionally illustrated map, which I've slated Keir Scott-Schrueder to work on. See his map of Middle-Earth for an example of his excellent work.

Second is having Shawn T. King do the cover formatting, as stated above. He's able to do a wide variety of styles, and all of them are excellent. You can check out his portfolio here.

Third is to have Félix Ortiz (who did the cover illustration for The Last Ranger) add in some interior illustrations to the book. Here's an example of what these could look like. I have a few already done, so you're guaranteed to have three, but I'm hoping we can do even more!

There are even more goals, but I think that's plenty to reach for now!

Higher-price tiers

Lastly, there are some higher price tiers with even more extravagant offerings!

The first of these includes all the epic fantasy books in my backlist — meaning Legend of Tal, The Runewar Saga, and The Famine Cycle. You'll be able to snag these in either paperback or hardcover.

Second, a few special individuals will get to name a minor character in The Last Ranger! That's a whole new level of eternal infamy, isn't it?

That's all for now! July 7th can't come soon enough, as far as I'm concerned!

Also, remember to follow The Last Ranger Kickstarter page to be notified as soon as it goes live.

While you're waiting, here are some other campaigns to check out:

Ramon Terrell's campaign for Shadowlancer, a high fantasy novel, ends in 26 hours! Shared by none other than Brandon Sanderson himself, this has been a success already and promises to be a great book. Check it out here.

Josh Chadd's campaign is also doing well, the hardcover anniversary edition of his Brother's Creed series. You can check it out here.

Happy reading to you!
