Four Days Until A Queen's Command Launches!

That's right, folks! A Queen's Command, Book 2 in the Legend of Tal series, is almost here!

That means this is your last chance to grab that 20% discount if you preorder it now ($3.99 rather than its normal price of $4.99). So unless you read in Kindle Unlimited, this is your best offer for the eBook!

Preorder the eBook of A QUEEN'S COMMAND for 20% off!

A Queen's Command is Available in Print!

If you prefer reading paperback or hardcover, I'm pleased to announce you can get a head start on ordering your copy for A Queen's Command!

The hardcover is lagging behind in linking up to the other versions, so use the second button (US link) if you'd like to order it in hardback.

Last Chance to Enter the Giveaway!

In case you missed last week's email, this is your last chance to enter the giveaway for A Queen's Command! When you enter, you receive a chance to win 1 signed paperback copy or 1 of the 5 eBook copies!

To enter, you must do at least one of the following:

  • Spread the word about A Queen's Command or the Legend of Tal series in general! A Facebook post in a group, a tweet - whatever works best for you. Here's an image you can use to share (you may need a Google account to view).
  • Add A Queen's Command to your "Want to Read" list on Goodreads. If you added it earlier, that also qualifies.
  • Follow me on Goodreads (if you haven't already).
  • Follow me on Bookbub (if you haven't already).
  • Additional option: Follow me on Amazon (if you haven't already).

Then reply to this email to let me know!

One note: I failed to specify this earlier, but this is an international giveaway. So even if you're not in the US, please do enter for a chance to win the signed paperback!

Also, those of you who have already entered should have received an email confirmation from me. If you didn't, reply to this email and I'll get you sorted out right away!

And be sure to check the launch day email (Oct. 26th) to see if you won!

On Writing...

As exciting as the upcoming launch is, the writing always continues in the background.

"Secret Project 2," as I introduced last week, is proceeding quite quickly. I'm likely over the halfway point now, helped in part by a whopping 9000-word day on Friday!

By the way, in case you're curious why I keep referring to this latest book as a "secret project," here's my reasoning:

The primary reason is so I don't end up confusing you with the plethora of different names I inevitably attach to books as they develop. Even now, before I've done a title brainstorm, I have four or five possibilities floating around right now.

You can see this issue play out with Frozen Throne, the book I'll be serializing soon, which has undergone several titles changes throughout its existence on the web - though, thankfully, I've finally settled on the title and series name!

The other (related) reason I am coy with projects is I don't always know what it will end up being when I begin writing. I'm what you'd call a "pantser," meaning I write "by the seat of my pants." I generally have some idea where the story will end up, but writing works best for me when I don't try to impose a plot on it beforehand. So again, to avoid confusion in the first book and the first draft especially, I'm vague about the details.

With how rapidly this book is coming out, I'm hoping it won't be too long before I'm able to say more concrete details about it!

Personal Update

It was another on-call weekend for Kaitlyn (my fiancée), and though we're close to getting a second car, we haven't quite committed to it. So it was another weekend at home for this author!

Fortunately, I have the best of writing buds. Here's Ben keeping me company (or rather, distracting me) while I tap out some words. For context, he's nestled right in front of my keyboard!
