Enter the Giveaway for A Queen's Command!

It's that time again! As we approach launch day for A Queen's Command, I want to give you fine people a chance to win some prizes!

For this giveaway, one lucky winner among the participants will snag a free signed paperback, while five will win a free ebook version of A Queen's Command. (Or, if you've already ordered it, you can get a free ebook from my catalogue of your choosing).

To enter, you must do any one of the following:

  • Spread the word about A Queen's Command or the Legend of Tal series in general! A Facebook post in a group, a tweet - whatever works best for you. Here's an image you can use to share (you may need a Google account to view).
  • Add A Queen's Command to your "Want to Read" list on Goodreads. If you added it earlier, that also qualifies.
  • Follow me on Goodreads (if you haven't already).
  • Follow me on Bookbub (if you haven't already).

When you've taken one of the above actions, send me a quick message to let me know and I'll enter your name into the mix!

On October 26th (release day), I'll announce the winners! Hope you're as excited as I am!

On Writing...

While work on An Emperor's Gamble continues, I'll admit - I've gotten a bit sidetracked by a secret project.

I know, another secret project...

I tend to be one of those writers who wants to follow where the inspiration leads. Usually, I'm pretty good about writing down the idea and setting it aside until I have time for it and continuing with current series.

But that's not the case with every story - for example, it was the same way with A King's Bargain. And when this idea struck, I knew I had to grab hold of it while it was still fresh.

Considering I've already written roughly a third of the first book, I think it was a good decision!

It's quite different in some ways from Legend of Tal, but those of you who are fans of that series should find plenty to enjoy in it. This new book has adventure, archery, sorcery, and an emotional rollercoaster for the protagonist, all in a world that you'll hopefully find intriguing.

Enough teasing for now - I'll let you know more as I can! And An Emperor's Gamble will follow closely on this one's heels!

Personal Update

In the evenings, I've been playing Last of Us 2. I've always enjoyed video games, but have found myself spending less time with them in recent years as writing and other interests took precedence.

But LoU2 is absolutely gripping. I've heard of complaints from some folks, but as far as I'm concerned, it's been fantastic. It features incredible characters who feel distinct and real, and their development is both heart-rending and satisfying. But I wouldn't recommend playing it before bed. Adrenaline and sleep do not mix!

Also, for no particular reason, check out this ridiculous picture of Zelda. Oh, cats...
