Hello Entrepreneur,

I was going to type dear business owner like I usually do, but I took my time to explain to the 100 women participants of my ongoing project tagged STEMSTEPS and I would like to also explain it to you. A business owner is not an entrepreneur. A business owner runs her business because s/he feels the need to. S/he is making money but S/he has not put sustainability plans into the business. An Entrepreneur on the other hand puts systems and structure in place for the business to exist for many years to come with or without the physical presence of the owner.

An Entrepreneur is a business owner who is adequately equipped with management skills and s/he runs the business in an organized way. You will find details of how to organize your business to achieve 3Ps - Productivity, Profits and Peace of mind in my book “Entrepreneurship is a beautiful thing”. Here is the link to the book. Back to what prompted this mail. It’s the third week into the online training of 100 women with digital technology and entrepreneurship skills. It is a lot of work that I am happy to do.

The STEMSTEPS program sponsored by the IVLP US department of States was launched at the American corner Ibadan on the 20th & 21st of July by Ms. Jeanne Clark, US Embassy in Nigeria who gave a heart-warming opening remark that left an indelible mark on our minds. These women’s eagerness to learn was such an encouragement for me to want to do more.

I see my dream becoming a reality as I am empowering these 100 female fresh graduates and final year students with skills that will not let them join the 33% Nigerian population who are unemployed.

And that leads me to make this bold declaration: dreams do come true, so dare to dream!
