First off - this email is in response to questions I've been getting from you all about how to navigate the upcoming TikTok ban. If you didn't already know, TikTok is set to be banned on Jan 19th. More details below. If you're not on the platform, then please feel free to ignore the bottom portion of this email.

TIKTOK BAN - Checklist: If you have been growing a following, let's discuss what you can do to prepare for the ban, migrate your fans & keep your content!

1. Download all videos - use Tokkit to download all of your TikTok videos. I highly recommend using a content scheduling app like Later or Hopper to repost them all to your other socials. Or post them straight to YouTube!
2. Save Your Data & Analytics - save all of your TikTok account data, including follower lists & analytics. Instructions on how to download this data can be found through a quick Google search. This step is crucial!
3. Secure Your Handles on Replacement Platforms - choose which platforms you're moving to or focusing on going forward & claim your handles so that your audience will be able to find you there before TikTok is gone. For example: Threads, BlueSky, Lemon 8, YouTube, etc.
4. Tell Your TikTok Followers Where to Find You - make some videos asking them to connect with you in other places! Giving them some incentives, or getting direct contact info (SMS, email) is also a great idea.
5. Create A Great Landing Page - if you don't already have one, it's incredibly important right now to put together a great landing page so that your followers can easily use it to find you in all the right places. You can use Beacons, Linktree, etc. for free, or if paying, I use Hopper.
6. Hope for the Best, Plan for the Worst - go ahead & start planning all of your future content & future posts around another platform. There is a possibility the ban may be lifted in the future, but don't bet on it. Pick one that's fun for you to use, and stay consistent! Or pick 2-3 that are pretty easy for you to move between & post from (ex: Twitch, YouTube, IG)
7. Post Videos on TikTok Redirecting Your Fans - this is so important, that I'm repeating it again. Make a bunch of videos to post on TikTok, ideally posting one video daily to get your fans to move to another platform! Consider doing a giveaway, a reward, a special shoutout or something else to give them an incentive to do a little extra clicking for you!
