Happy spring to you!

Hooray to sun and lighter days!

As we all emerge from winter its an opportunity to reflect and ask ourselves.. what have I been doing in the last months that I can feel proud of and would like to show off this spring?

New Work...

Well ...I was inspired to draw and to learn how to screen print while writing a grant application this winter. Now I’m ready to share the fruits of my labour!

This intricate drawing is made up of many parts from sea angels to weather systems, corals to the kraken and the fine workings of our own body systems. Inspired by sea folklore, science, the ever changing sensations of being immersed in the sea and the entanglement of our emotional and environmental relationship with it.

Here are 4 of the new collection of 24 individual screen prints. Each is one of a kind in feeling and colour, they are archival quality and signed by me. This has given me an excuse to have a print launch party to catch up with you, raise a glass & show them off!

So save the dates:

party on Friday, the 25th of April from 6 pm until 9 pm (may well go on later) with cheese and wine, music, and general merriment.

I will also open on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th of April which you can come see the work, have a chat and cup of tea and biscuits between 10am and 4pm.

This year…..

This year I am taking some time to research further into the entangled relationship we have with the sea. Developing works to create a new body of sculptural installations and paintings. Following on from the sculptural works found in my solo show Entangle at Phoenix Art Space last year (see below). The process of writing the application has crystallised my ideas and provoked me to be even more ambitious for the next round of applications this year.

So if you can make it to my open studio weekend you will see prototypes of these which normally don’t get seen by anybody until completed. So be the 1st to see these alongside more in the collection of the prints you see above.
