Having a flick through some older paintings on my website to find some glimpse of inspiration about how to move forward with a new painting I found this painting called Valhole and it’s just done the trick to get me back into the current painting. I made this painting after a trip to Norway which was a lifetime dream because of my family heritage leading back to Vikings from Norway. An owner of one of my glass paintings who sends me photos of her piece with different light refractions and her is this is the latest taken at 4.30am in the morning the other day. The work showing it’s dark side in the moonlight casting shadows across other artworks and the wall. Our conversation about it made me think about this point and how these works alter so much with different light sources. She said: “It’s an abstract painting which made itself” and I said “Yes they do & keep reinventing themselves when the perspective changes, a little bit like the maker” joking aside it is so right about human nature in general…to my perspective anyhow.
