Why Most UX Job Applications Fail

There are two ways to approach your UX job search: Answers and Value.
Both can work, but they work differently.
An Answer-Based Approach gets you the best interviews.
It’s simple, direct, and focused. Think of it like a laser pointer—it solves a specific problem for the hiring manager.
This works best when you want to stand out for highly competitive roles or connect directly with decision-makers. You’re not throwing in fluff or extras—you’re just offering the solution they need.
On the other hand, a Value-Based Approach creates more opportunities.
It’s like a buffet. You show your versatility, creativity, and impact across multiple areas. Your resume, LinkedIn profile, and portfolio are packed with bonuses:
• Case studies with measurable results.
• Recommendations from top clients.
• A polished Minimum Valuable Pitch tailored to their needs.
This approach works when you’re trying to get noticed by as many people as possible—especially if you’re targeting companies during peak hiring seasons.
Here’s the mistake most people make: They don’t know when to use which one.
Job seekers throw everything at the wall, hoping something sticks. But hiring managers don’t want everything—they want the right thing.
Right now, it’s December.
It’s the season to mix both:
• Answer-Based Approaches for decision-makers at your dream companies.
• Value-Based Approaches to catch the attention of multiple hiring managers.
This is how you land the interviews now and secure your future for 2025 before it even begins.
That’s exactly what I teach in my UX Careerpreneur Model.
