Who's the host:
Vacation Adventures by Vicki was formed out of the desire to be a blessing to others by providing an exceptional vacation experience at our favorite destination - The Great Smoky Mountains. All this, while providing flexibility to allow me (Vicki) to be there for my three teenage boys and my husband. You know, be a business owner and work 24-7 instead of 9-5. 😊
It has been a fun start-up year. I’ve especially enjoyed getting to know my guests and hearing their stories. Spending over a decade in customer service definitely laid the groundwork to be passionate about my guests’ experiences.
But let’s be honest here... What I’ve struggled with is regular communication to you all! Sure, I’ve done Facebook and Instagram posts, but I know all too well how those can get lost in your feed.
So here is the first edition of my monthly newsletter. What can you expect? Updates on the cabins. Info about area events. A resource. A local business highlight. And True or False. So… here we go.
What's new with our cabins:
Ridge Top Adventure Cabin got a full interior make-over in the spring and has been enjoyed by many guests already since going live Memorial Day weekend. We recently took advantage of small windows of vacancy and completed additional updates. The exterior of the cabin along with the decks and stairs were all stained. Not only will this help with the life of the wood, but it will also help keep the carpenter bees away. We also recently opened up the view from the front upper deck so that you can see more of English Mountain while relaxing in the rockers.
Hidden Adventure Cabin is still under construction! The well was being drilled this week. Pretty soon, we’ll actually have water to fill the indoor swimming pool! The next inside steps are kitchen cabinets, countertops and appliances, which will be followed by the custom furniture made from local, reclaimed barn wood. Then the real fun begins. We get to decorate it and make it cozy and ready for its first guests.
Events in the Smokies:
The fall is an exciting time in the Smokies. There are events for everyone of all ages. Here are a few highlights.
- Fall Festivals:
o Hollow Mountain at Anakeesta
o Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg
- Haunted Halloween events:
o Halloween at the Mysterious Mansion

A Local Legend, at least according to us!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t highlight Adventure Distilling Co., as my husband was finally able to check it out and loved the backyard BBQ vibe there. Not to mention it is his new favorite Moonshine. Bonus - It is just down the road from Ridge Top Adventure Cabin with spacious outdoor seating. They also often have live music and food trucks.
True or False?
