Building a "SEAL-Team" Strong Company Culture 💪

Hi there ,
Estimated reading time: Around 1 minute 43 seconds
This week, I've been reflecting on the incredible resilience and teamwork of the Navy SEALs, based on Simon Sinek's teachings.
These elite military face unimaginable challenges and push themselves to the absolute limit, both physically and mentally.
But here's the surprising thing...
The SEALs have found that the individuals who succeed aren't necessarily the strongest.
Or the fastest.
Or even the most confident.
The loudest leaders and star athletes often don't make it through the gruelling training.
Instead, it's those who are willing to dig deep, embrace vulnerability, and support their teammates who ultimately prevail.
When they're exhausted, depleted, and ready to give up, they find the strength to help the person next to them.
Simon Sinek reminded me of this a few weeks back.
I revisited his thoughtful speeches about leadership during my journey home from NYC.
I love using travel time to catch up on inspiring talks and remind myself of awesome lessons about hiring well, leadership and growth, so I downloaded a ton of his YouTube videos before my flight home!
Sinek emphasises the importance of putting people first, building trust, and creating a sense of purpose.
It's not about individual glory; it's about the collective mission and supporting those around you.
This powerful lesson translates directly to the business world.
Building a brilliant company where your team loves to be each day isn't just about hiring the most impressive individuals on paper.
It's about fostering a culture of collaboration, support, and genuine connection.
Here's how to create a "SEAL-Team" strong company culture:
- Embrace vulnerability: Encourage open communication and create a safe space for your team to share challenges and ask for help.
- Prioritise teamwork: Foster a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Celebrate collective achievements and encourage peer-to-peer learning.
- Lead with empathy: Show genuine care for your team members' well-being and create a culture of trust and respect.
- Cultivate resilience: Equip your team with the tools and resources they need to overcome challenges and bounce back from setbacks.
By fostering these qualities, you'll create a company culture where individuals thrive, teams excel, and everyone feels empowered to contribute their best work.
Happy Hiring!
Helen
