Finding Peace and Self-Validation This Holiday Season ❤️✨

The holiday season is a mix of magic and mayhem—filled with joyful moments but also emotional challenges. This week, I want to share a deeply personal story about finding peace in an ordinary moment. 🌿🐾
A few days ago, I went on a hike with Milo after receiving a particularly upsetting email from my ex-husband. My mind was tangled in worry—about finances, court proceedings, and the weight of caregiving. In the past, words like his would have deeply hurt me.
I’d replay the message over and over, convincing myself:
- "Surely, he didn’t mean to hurt me."
- "Surely, he must see what a good mom I am and how hard I’ve tried to navigate the court system for our child’s care."
But as I journaled during that hike, I realized something powerful: I’d been seeking validation from someone who would likely never give it. I wanted him to see my heart, my effort, and my love for our child. Then it hit me—I don’t need validation from him (or anyone else). This is a lesson I learn over and over again. Those old patterns sometimes can throw us into a huge tail wind (if we let them).
✨ Validation is something I can give myself anytime, any day, with one small decision. ✨
That decision? To remind myself of my worth. To honor my feelings and my truth. To recognize the love and effort I pour into my life and my child every single day.
By allowing myself to feel and process my emotions, I let go of the hurt. His words no longer had power over me because they didn’t define me.
This season, I hope my story inspires you to find peace and self-compassion—even in the chaos of life. Here are a few self-care practices that helped me and might resonate with you:

Before responding to others or rushing into holiday plans, take a moment to check in with yourself. What are you feeling, and what do you need right now?

Instead of seeking it externally, remind yourself of your own worth. Write down your wins, your efforts, and the love you pour into the world.

Journaling helped me process emotions that felt overwhelming. Sometimes, the simple act of writing things down can bring clarity and calm.
Set Loving Boundaries 🛡️
Protect your peace by setting boundaries that honor your emotional needs. It’s okay to say “no” or step away when necessary.
Celebrate the Imperfect Moments 🎄✨
Life is messy, especially during the holidays. Laugh at the unexpected and let go of perfection.
As we move deeper into this season, let’s remember that peace begins within. Validation doesn’t need to come from others—you can give it to yourself, anytime, any day, with one small decision.
