Jan 1st Devotion
Jan 01, 2025 7:38 pm
Every time I begin a new year the ten words of Genesis 1:1 put me in my place and declare God’s rightful position as my creator. Every day I interact with His creation, but I don’t tend to think of Him. Rarely do I think of His glory as the creator of all things both visible and invisible. When I eat and drink, things I do every day, I rarely lift my glass or fork with the apostle Paul and do those things to the glory of God. This year will you join me as I add a degree of intentionality in glorifying God in all that I do.
I will be more cognizant throughout the year of God’s majesty. Last night on December 31st our church gathered to worship in the new year. We began at 11:00 and ended 2024 with a worship exclamation point and began 2025 with praising God. The song 10,00 Reasons ended the night as we begin this new year. The beginning lyrics of the song capture my great desire for this new year. I pray is captures your intent for 2025.
Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I'll worship Your Holy name
The sun comes up
It's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes
Song by Matt Redman and Steve Angrisano
