EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT #1: The Do-Over Girl
💜💜💜💜💜💜
Hello !
Lots going on in my writing world! I'm working on The Do-Over Girl and I'm excited to write the second chance trope--which is also an enemies-to-lovers trope since Kali and Nash parted in such a spectacularly humiliating and heart-crushing fashion.
How? You'll have to wait until you read about it--also we all have to wait until I think up the whole scenario and write it all down! Lol!
Such is the plight of the romance writer--or any fiction writer--figure out how to cause massive amounts of trouble to put your characters in.
Then figure out a way to get them out...

At SQ's House
We went on a mini-vacation to Booth Bay Harbor, Maine this past week ➜➜➜➜➜➜
We took a tour of the harbor on the mail boat--yes, the boat actually delivered the mail to Squirrel Island where there are about 100 summer homes. The deliveries included a refrigerator which took several people and a massive struggle to offload from the boat to the dock.
In the meantime, of course I age chocolates, ice cream and fried fish among other terrible unhealthy things But now I'm back to salads--I mean delicious salads.😘💜

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT #1
The Do-Over Girl - a hockey rom-com
Kali
What happened to my normally pleasant and happy self? My sense of humor? Hell, what happened to my brains?
“Toll house cookie anyone?” Charline looks between us, holding the plate, her expectant smile not diminishing one bit as we both remain silent for a couple of beats. For my part, I need a few breaths to get my racing heart under control and to beat back my anger.
I’m not sure what Nash’s problem is because I know for a fact he loves cookies—all sweets—and by right he should be all over that plate like a jackal, should have grabbed a handful of those cookies and scarfed one down by now.
His hands are on his hips and my arms are crossed over my chest. He turns his glare from me and softens his face as he faces Charline.
“Thank you. They smell sinful, Miss Pike. You sure you aren’t the devil herself wrapped in the sweet package of a beautiful woman?”
I roll my eyes.
Miss Pike giggles. Then she does the scoldy finger at him. “I think we both know who the real devil is around here, Nash Lewis. You behave yourself. I’ve read all about you. No hanky panky around here. That’s my only rule.”
My grin is automatic and I could kiss Charline for her scold, even if it was good natured. I would have preferred more venom, something with teeth, but she’s a good reminder that I don’t need to use barbed wire to keep myself safe from Nash when cool wit will do.
As his smile slowly deepens to show his dimple like some kind of time lapse expression—I don’t know how he does it, but there’s nothing more effective at melting every person with ovaries within a mile—I know I’m going to need all of my wits about me to stay safe.
He’s the man who ruined me when I was seventeen and I have a very bad feeling that he could do it again seventeen years later if I’m not careful.
“Come on in the kitchen, you two. I’ll get you some ice for that red mark on your cheek, Nash.”
My mouth hangs open. She knows I slapped him. Suddenly my face feels far pinker than the spot on Nash’s cheek. In fact the mark on his face is hardly anything.
Nash laughs and follows her. I stand there mute and motionless until he looks over his shoulder at me.
“Come on, Kali. We’re in this together, you and me, whether we like it or not.” His words are resigned, but they’re soft too.
The fight drains from me in spite of all my alarm bells of warning. But I still have resolve, don’t I? I don’t need fight—in fact fighting is too exhausting and not to mention ridiculous and all around terrible behavior. Plus, I don’t like when my emotions get all riled up like that around Nash. It shows I still feel too much. I need to be cool and immune to him.
Even if he is a mean jerk. Or he was seventeen years ago. I heave a breath as we settle into the kitchen and I’m rewarded with a lung full of heaven—otherwise known as chocolatey sweets.
“You have brownies baking,” I say with genuine enthusiasm. “How did you know they were my weakness?”
Charline laughs.
“And here I thought I was your weakness,” Nash says.
My heart rate doubles up and I see red as if my blood pressure goes from fifty to a hundred in a flash. But I keep my mouth clamped shut. Determination forces me to lift the corners of my mouth in a mockery of a smile, but I do it. Then I head for the corner where I see a few aprons hanging on a coat rack and put one on.
He lets out a low whistle. “Impressive.” I know what he’s saying. He's not impressed at all that I barely kept my cool. I also know he’s going to test me, tease me relentlessly, because that’s the kind of guy he is. Relentless.
Which was one of the attributes I loved most about him, especially in bed. Do not go there...

Sara
“No need to sugarcoat it, sweetheart. I sucked tonight. But you’re right, it’s a team sport and I’ll bail the team out on another night. Enough about hockey. Tell me about you. What are you wearing?”
Boom.
Even if I’m not much at playing the game, I know a flirty line when I hear one. My heart almost stops and I touch a hand to my chest as it doubles down, pattering all over the place.
He chuckles. “Sara? I’m sorry. Forget—”
“No, no.” I’m not about to forget that sexy question or the low suggestive note in his voice. “I’m wearing a t-shirt. And panties.”
“Your bellagambas are bare,” he says like he’s stroking my legs with his words, his voice silky smooth and appreciative.
“You’ve picked up the Italian really fast,” I say, then squeeze my eyes shut because it’s a decidedly non-flirtatious piece of nonsense.
He laughs. “That’s what I like about you; I’m always surprised by what you say and can’t wait to hear it.”
I snort, then I clap a hand over my mouth, then squeeze and try to redeem my unsexy self. “I mean, you’d be a party of one in that club.”
He laughs again. “I don’t mind. Matter of fact, I’m glad.”
Heat flames from between my legs all the way up my body like I’m a rope on fire and he lit the match. He’s showing signs of possession and I know that means interest. Real interest. Holy crap.
But it’s my turn to talk again and I don’t know where to go from here.
Of course, he bails me out. He’s a natural at bailing people out.
“Is that what you usually wear to bed, or did you leave your legs bare because you knew I’d be calling?”
“I confess. I dressed for you.”
He groans. “You shouldn’t have told me that. Now, I’ll feel guilty. We’re just friends. “You know that, right?” He lets out a long breath and I’m turned on by the gritty need in his voice, the raspy texture.
“Yeah, I know.” I lower my hand to my panties and slip my fingers inside. My skin is hot and I hold my breath as I slide a finger through my folds to feel how wet I am. I knew I would be, but the sensation on my fingertips makes it officially hot—and I’m past the point of no return. I want to make myself explode with the sound of his voice in my ear.
I just need him to keep talking. “How about you? You sure we’re just friends.” My voice shakes and I move my finger up and down over my swollen pussy.
“I’m sure. You okay?” His voice is low.
I nod, breathing heavier, speeding my fingers up, circling my engorged clit. “I’m… great.” I bite my tongue. My voice is too breathy.
“Sara?”
His voice goes even lower and the vibration of it sends a wild thrill through me, making me arch into my hand and...

SQ's Featured Review
THE BIG PUCK
"This book is full of so many of the best tropes! Single dad/nanny, age gap, forbidden 'friends' little sister (I use friend loosely), grumpy/sunshine--and the current trope everyone is digging hockey romance...Sports romance is not something I read all the time, but...with Hockey Romance being the big thing at this time I couldn't resist picking this one up and I am so glad that I did!
... the story was cute and the characters were fun and I cannot wait for the rest of the series--I definitely am a Hockey and Nanny romance convert!"

Coming later in 2023...
“With a name like Chase, I should have known you’d catch up with me,” she says.
Sporting a wry smile, she pretends to be all casually cynical. I would have believed her act if it hadn’t been for that one night. There was nothing casual about it, or her.
That night was certifiably special, everything about it, from start to finish.
Only problem is I’m dying to re-live the night. And she’s not.
Chase Whittier, just up from the minors to join the NHL's new Portsmouth Whalers, is riding high and out to celebrate in Boston after their win against the Brawlers.
In a departure from his usual behavior, he takes a woman home for a one night stand.
Except this woman and this night are not what he expects from a one-night-stand. He connects with her on a level he’s never experienced before. This can’t be normal.
But when she disappears before the morning, he's more than disappointed because he didn't get her number--or her last name. And though he doesn’t expect to ever see her again, she stays on his mind.
Until two weeks later when he goes to his grandma’s in Boston for Christmas and finds her there.
She's his grandma's caretaker. And not happy to see him. At all.

What does a billionaire hockey player and a clueless dog walker have in common?
Besides my dog, we both enjoyed spending one hot night burning up the sheets.
And we both needed something desperately enough to strike a deal.
Possibly the stupidest deal ever imagined according to my lawyer, but once it's done, we're in bed together--literally--for the duration of the season.
The one rule is that we agree to part ways cleanly at the end of the contract. No contact allowed.

Claiming Becca - Nicole Abrams
There’s only one guy I can’t have. And he’s the one I fell for. My best friend.
At seventeen, almost eighteen, I found myself homeless and running from dangers one couldn’t even fathom. That’s when I met him. My best friend. It started with a box of food I stole, to him saving me. Twice. Me running away. Him finding me and offering me a place to stay.
He says it was to keep me safe, but maybe as time goes on, it is something more?
As years went by, he slowly burrowed himself inside my heart. He became my person. Yet, with every joke, hug, phone call, and interaction, I’ve found that I want him more than just my friend. Then in the blink of an eye, he gets hurt, almost killed, protecting someone close to us.
Once more, I find myself living with him—this time to help him recover.
Stolen glances and lingering touches make me think there may be something more, a chance there is some truth to what everyone around us says. His feelings may, in fact, reflect mine. And when a horrible date goes completely awry, the truth comes out.
