How Small Shifts Can Lead to Big Wins in 2025

Shift in Marketing

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with time spent with family and friends and an opportunity to reflect on all the blessings the good Lord has provided us.

As you may have noticed from my recent posts and email updates, I’ve been sharing more frequently. While reflecting on my art business and its direction, I’ve also been thinking about how to serve individuals and small businesses better—whether they’re ready to start a business or need guidance with digital media strategies and marketing campaigns.

Through this newsletter, I aim to offer valuable insights to:

  • Creative entrepreneurs seeking to start their business.
  • Small business owners in need of fresh strategies for marketing and social media.
  • Aspiring affiliate marketers looking to create and monetize content by promoting services and products online.

The economy is shifting increasingly toward online platforms—a trend I’ve observed for decades. I remember discussing this shift as far back as 1994 when I was in college, again in 1998 during my web development days, and over the past decade while working with state governments and local businesses to establish their social media strategies.

This newsletter is my way of continuing that conversation—helping individuals understand the ongoing economic shift and how to use marketing, social media, and online platforms to stay ahead, adapt, and thrive.

Latest Thoughts

If you’ve been following my Facebook posts, you’ve seen me discuss creating a business plan and preparing for 2025. You might be thinking, “Juan, it’s way too early—we just finished Thanksgiving!”

For most people who are happy with where they are, don’t want to change anything from last year, and are content continuing what they’re doing, that’s perfectly okay.

But for the small percentage of individuals who want to make a change—whether it’s getting a bigger house, becoming financially free, starting a new business, turning a side hustle into a full-time career, losing weight, or feeling healthier—you cannot decide on December 31st and magically expect success.

I know this from experience.

Last year, I set several goals I didn’t meet. Being brutally honest with myself, I realized I was not as successful as I wanted to be because I wasn’t pairing those goals with the habits required to achieve them. I kept changing my plans without creating sustainable habits to support them—except for one.

In September 2022, I found out my wife was pregnant with our second child, and I realized I needed to be in better health to support her during the pregnancy and help care for our growing family. At 5’7” and 235 pounds, I didn’t have the energy or health I needed—not just in the short term, but for the next 20, 30, or even 40 years. I had to ask myself: Would I be around for my family if I continued my eating habits?

That’s when I made a commitment to change.

I started with slight adjustments—modifying what I ate and reducing portions. Initially, I lost a little weight but kept yo-yoing. Then, everything shifted when my wife joined the affiliate marketing business we now run together.

In total, I’ve lost 40 pounds—not through intense workouts or starvation, but by making small, sustainable habit changes. One of the most significant changes came when we invested in a Kangen alkaline ionized water machine, which is part of the business we now operate. I committed to drinking 36 to 48 ounces daily. Combined with eating healthier, less processed foods and cutting back on meat, I began seeing actual, lasting results.

Habits Equal Goals

This principle applies to everything—not just health. Many people want to achieve big goals but aren’t willing to change their habits. Or they try to implement short-term fixes rather than life-changing, sustainable practices.

What’s Coming Up

In the next few days, I’ll write about steps to creating a one-page personal strategic plan. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you!
