The first few days of the workshop at Sufi camp have been incredible. On Wednesday, we did a drumming circle. Wow! I was completely knocked out. I love Adnan‘s drumming tapes. However there is something extraordinary about a live sound. Of course, you know this if you have ever heard Adnan Sufi live drumming. It’s so much better than the recordings.
After that, we had circle dancing, chanting, and an amazing reading. I did the first reading from Adnan’s book “Spirit and Technology”
Tamsin, our teacher, asked me to read the story “Glamor Love and Mr. Plastic,” which is a funny spoof on the difference between ordinary love and spiritual love. However it began with a short passage about the spirit and the moment. It was beautiful and a great explanation about the moment as the key to Spirit. People came up to me afterwards to find out which book it was in.
I’ve been reading Adnan’s writings for years and I can’t recall this passage about the moment. I have read the part in the story about Rouge Beguile Femme Fatal meeting Mr. Plastic, but I can’t recall the segment about the moment. it is beautiful, it is poetic, it is amazing. It is as though Adnan had come back into the material world to give this special information.
I felt the same way when last summer Carl, another Sufi, was reading from Adnan‘s early writings. I didn’t even know there were early writings. Kaye, another Sufi, just found them in Adana‘s room. Forty years of doing Sufi camp and Christmas workshops and I had never heard any of this particular manuscript.
There’s more I want to share about camp. I will tell you more next week.
Or join me for Sunday workshop where I will share with you some of the amazing experiences in the zoom class. Get a taste of Sufi Camp. I look forward to seeing you.
In the moment,
Michelle
