Before the Turn

Hi there,

I am sad to report that this past Tuesday’s Sufi meditation class was Zoom-bombed. Yes, on Christmas Eve!!!

No matter how many times I removed the intruders from my Zoom room, they managed to return. Zoom could not provide a clear explanation of how they could do this. They are not supposed to be able to return once they are removed. I finally canceled the rest of the class.

Since then, I have created a new Zoom link for Tuesday and Sunday classes. I will no longer provide the link in this weekly blog.

If you are a member of Janet Norquist’s mailing list, you will find the new Zoom link in her weekly newsletter. I will also post the link on the Sufi Signal Account the night before.

If you do not have access to either of these communication sources and want to come to the class, send me an email. If I know you, I will send you the new Zoom link under the condition that you not share it with anyone. If I do not know you, we will schedule a Zoom Interview and talk before I provide this information.

I made the error of posting this event on Meet-up, not the link to the class, just the link to this mail list. It has been a sufficient deterrent up until now.

Just before the start of the class on Tuesday, four people signed up. I was busy talking with one of these new people and was unaware of this last-minute deluge of unknown registrants. Perhaps that was this person's purpose -- to distract me or tell his comrade when it was ideal to bomb. At first, there were no other attendees. The room filled gradually. About 15-20 minutes into our slow movement, the bombing commenced. They even came using the names of other people in the group. That guy must have been a plant.

I have since removed all these new names from my mailing list and deleted the Sufi event on my Meet-up. Still, I feel a need for extra caution.

Adnan often said, “The Secret protects itself.” People who are negative or desire to do violence will find the work repellant. It may even make them crazy.

We do not invite them among ourselves.

We send them healing energy and pray they find their way to the light.

Adnan also said, “If you see an angry person on your path, cross to the other side of the street.” I have crossed the street.

In his book, "When Life is Lovable, Love is Livable," Adnan writes about the states of light and dark.

In life, there are two states that exist. One is the state of darkness where even if you are under the bright light of the sun, the inside of you is dark. The other is the state of light, even if you are in the darkest of night, the inside of you is light.

When people are in the state of darkness, they usually do not know that they are in the state of darkness. And what makes them not capable of seeing where they are is the ignorance of the self. I will give you some clues about how to know if you are in the state of darkness. These are when you are negative, tense, unhappy, bored, feeling monotonous, tired of where you are, anxious, disturbed, with fluctuation in the thought, nervous, sad, greedy, possessive, rigid, with no flexibility, argumentation, obnoxious. . . etc, etc.

The other state, and that is the state of light, as I said before, even in the darkest of night, you are light inside. You will be in the state of light if you have peace, faith, and excellence (in Arabic: Islam, Iman, and Ihsan). When these three elements are acquired by any person, they will be perfect. And El ihsan el kamel in Arabic means the complete or perfect human being.

Here are some holiday images to bring light to the darkest night:
