It’s hard to begin to describe how amazing it is to be at Sufi camp. It’s not just the workshops . . . the chanting, the dancing, the whirling, the exercise. It’s also the high altitude, the simple meals, and the friendships that blossom and then break apart as people come and go.

I’ve gotten much closer to some amazing people.  I have learned their history, their thoughts and hopes — things that I never knew. With fewer people it’s easier to connect. Last night I counted 30 people. It’s nice to see new faces.

I’ve been eating only the one meal that is served each day. Sometimes I’ve had a few walnuts, or boiled egg, but basically I have been sticking to the food provided by the camp. I’ve lost a lot of weight which is what I hoped would happen. But the real reason is eating lightly makes a difference in the impact of the workshops. The effect goes deeper.

I know the weight won’t stay off. Once I get back, I’m back home, I will return to my regular eating and the weight will gradually come back on again. But for the moment I feel light, graceful and higher than a kite.

Last night I led the group in the middle of the dance circle. I felt as light as a butterfly.

Something has shifted in me. I feel content, grateful, light and clear. Join me tomorrow for a taste of Sufi Summer camp.

See you soon.

be brilliant,

Michelle
