I always wanted to try to make cinnamon buns in my slow cooker. Call me crazy, but I read that is possible. Mamma BEAR, won't have it though and given my history with experimentation in the kitchen I understand her concern. :) What is one recipe that you have always wanted to try?
? These days, there’s a lot of emphasis on setting goals (e.g. lose 20 pounds) and then following a program (e.g. a diet plan) to achieve those goals. ? When it comes to goals, we’re taught to think about what we want to accomplish. Then we’re supposed to make the goal specific, measurable, attainable, etc. What happens once we’ve done all that? When we’ve set the ultimate goal? ? For most people, not much. ? That’s because goals aren’t achieved through the mere act of setting them. And goals aren’t achieved through sheer force of will. ? Based on my experience, success actually follows a different process. The formula pretty much looks like this: 1. Practice daily to build skills. 2. Build skills to achieve goals. ? Some people call this approach habit-based, others call it practice-based. ?? This approach is progressive and helps people build transferable skills while stair-stepping their way to real, *sustainable* change. ? What habit(s) are YOU working on this week?
This week my fav veggie is the SWEET PEA. Sweet peas provide an impressive inventory of nutrients. Not only are they fibrous, they contain a number of vitamins. Among these are vitamins B, C and K. Their mineral profile includes high amounts of manganese, copper, phosphorus, potassium, iron and magnesium. When was the last time you enjoyed a bowl of Sweet Peas?
If you think of body change as a pyramid, here’s what it should look like ? ? You'll notice it’s the opposite of what you might expect. All the “expert stuff” — adjusting macronutrients, advanced nutrition strategies, etc. — is at the top. They’re a “nice to have”. ?? The base of the pyramid — your foundation — is what surrounds you. ? In general, when it comes to engineering healthy eating, here’s the golden rule: 1. Make healthy behaviors convenient. 2. Make other behaviors less convenient. ? By simply changing your environment in small ways, you can make changes without even thinking about them. ? For more ingenious environment tweaks that will improve your eating habits immediately, DM me.

Nutrition science can be confusing at times— it's another reason why eating well isn't as straightforward as I'd like it to be. ? Curious to learn more? DM me.
? Most people who come to nutrition coaching already know what a healthy, balanced meal looks like. ? The real question they have is: How do I consistently eat healthy, balanced meals in the context of real life? ? You know, like “I got home late, after a long meeting, then my toddler spilled an entire bottle of olive oil on the kitchen floor!” (Yeah, true story). ? With these meal prep strategies, I teach clients exactly how to have healthy food ready when they need it. ??? The result? A fridge full of fast, healthy options to choose from, even as life continues to unfold. Want more great meal prep strategies? DM me.
